The Sexism of Harlotry

Many readers have undoubtedly heard about the Secret Service sex scandal in Cartagena, Columbia. After a night of drinking and lewdness, agents brought prostitutes to hotel Caribe and then refused to pay for their harlotry. There ensued a big disturbance in the hallway, and numerous people hurried to break up the disturbance between the agents and the prostitute. Dozens of officials have been implicated. David Chaney and Greg Stokes seem to have the main role in the altercation, followed by Arthur Huntington.

.I have wanted to write about this for several weeks now, but other things in life had beckoned me aside. Mainly, I wished to discuss the sexism about harlotry. The government decided that the solution to this problem is to provide ethics training for the Secret Service agents. The Secret Service needs specially-designed classes to teach them that women are human beings worthy and deserving of respect, never to be regarded as things for male pleasure.

There are different kinds of secrets. Some are things hidden from our understanding, sometimes called the mysteries of life: how they built the pyramids, miracles, unexplained events. There are military secrets – confidential military matters, the CIA and spies. There are the secrets that are methods or formulas based on successes: if you send in your hundred dollars, you can receive a secret blend of tea/cream/pills guaranteed to make your cellulite disappear. Don’t we wish. There are the secrets where others share confidences with you.

Then you have the secrets that are of the personal nature – things that we have done ourselves, or had done to us, or been involved in that we don’t want anybody to know about. Usually it is something that is not socially or morally acceptable.

INTERNET AND TEXTING RULES FOR COUPLES

The Internet can pose a significant threat to any relationship if misused. The Internet has led to a dramatic increase in use of pornography, which can become habitual, even addictive behavior that will have a negative impact on your own relationship with your partner. In addition, the Internet allows individuals to make contact with strangers and encourages inappropriate intimacy. It can lead to both emotional and physical infidelity.

Because some people view online relationships as harmless, they engage in behavior they would never consider in a face-to-face relationship. Many marriages and relationships have broken up when one member of a couple discovers that his/her partner has been involved in a relationship online or regularly visits pornographic or other inappropriate websites.

Here are a set of rules that will help each couple avoid the trauma that comes from discovering hidden relationships and porn use on the computer.
